This mini vacation includes accommodation and activities.  The winner will have their choice of a BACK COUNTRY MOUNTAIN EXPERIENCE or URBAN & MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE!  Once the winner chooses their vacation, assistance will be provided to arrange fullitinerary.

BACK COUNTRY MOUNTAIN EXPERIENCE   

Day 1: Arrive Calgary and take in some of the sites of the city.

Day 2: Transfer to Banff.  Enjoy some of the sites and shopping that the town offers.  Enjoy a relaxing boat cruise with Lake Minnewanka Boat Tours (passes provided) where you will learn about the geological, geographical, and aboriginal history of the area.  Take in the breathtaking views from the top of Sulphur Mountain by either hiking to the top or by taking the gondola (passes provided).  Finish the day with a relaxing soak in the Banff Upper Hot Springs (passes provided) 

Day 3:  Transfer to Shadow Lake Lodge & Cabins Access. Enjoy the 14 km (9 mile) well marked trail into Shadow Lake Lodge & Cabins 

Day 4: Explore the many trails located around the lodge

Day 5: Hike out in morning and depart for the Columbia Icefields. The Columbia Icefield is located in Jasper National Park. The Icefield – the largest sub-polar body of ice in North America – is one of the reasons why the United Nations declared Canada's four Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Sites. The Icefield covers 325 square kilometres with solid ice up to 365 metres (1200 feet) deep. Meltwater from the Icefield flows to three oceans: the Pacific, Arctic and Atlantic via Hudson Bay. Experience the ice on an ice explorer. At the end of the day, enjoy an evening at the Icefields Chalet.

Day 6: Explore more of Alberta by taking Highway 11 better known as the David Thompson trail from the Icefields Parkway to the QEII Highway. Arrive back in Calgary for the night before departing for home.

Day 7: Depart for home.

URBAN & MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE

Day 1: Arrive Calgary.

Day 2: Explore and Experience Calgary! (Activities/attractions may include but not limited to entry to Calgary Zoo, Heritage Park, Glenbow Museum) Sponsored by Tourism Calgary.  Transfer to Rafter Six Resort.

Day 3:  Enjoy the many activities the ranch offers then head to the mountain community of Canmore. Explore and Experience Canmore! Hike or bike one of the many trails in the area, take an art walk and enjoy some of the galleries in town. Take in any one of the many activities found in this mountain town. (Activities may include but are not limited to, fly-fishing, caving, aboriginal experience or rafting) Activity will be sponsored by Tourism Canmore At the end of the day head to Banff for a good night’s sleep.

Day 4:  Explore Banff. Take a tour with Lake Minnewanka Boat Tours, enjoy the panoramic views from the tip of Sulphur Mountain, take a relaxing did in the Banff Upper Hot Spings and take in some of Banff’s great shopping.

Day 5: Keep Exploring Banff! With so much to see and do, one day really isn’t enough! At the end of the day head back to Calgary.

Day 6:  Depart for home.

Contest Rules

Eligibility: No purchase necessary to enter or win. Sweepstakes open to those legal residents of Canada and the United States aged 21 years or older at the time of entry. Employees of Calgary & The Canadian Rockies Consortium ("Sponsor"), its affiliates and subsidiary companies, agents and advertising agencies and the immediate family members (parent, child, sibling and spouse) of each of such employees are not eligible. Contest closes May 4, 2007.

Entry: (a) Contest begins at 9:01 a.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST) on January 12, 2008, and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. MST on May 4,  2007. You may enter the contest by completing the online entry form. Alternatively, you may enter the contest by hand printing your name, address, postal code, daytime phone number and e-mail address (if available) and mailing to Calgary & Canadian Rockies Contest, P.O. Box 40023, Canmore, Alberta, T1W 3H9; to be received no later than 11:59:59 p.m.  May 9, 2008.  All entries are subject to the terms set forth in the Statement of Privacy found at www.travelalberta.com/content/privacy/.  Entries will be deemed to be made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry.  “Authorized account holder” is deemed as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by a Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses or the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.  No responsibility is assumed by Calgary and the Canadian Rockies or the partners thereof, for lost, late, misdirected, or incomplete entries or any computer, online telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur in the processing, transmission or receipt of entries.  LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER HOUSHOLD REGARDLESS OF METHOD OF ENTRY.

2.        Sponsor is not responsible for any lost, late, delayed, illegible, incomplete, or misdirected entries. No facsimiles or mechanical reproductions of entries will be permitted. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. Your entry will be disqualified if you (i) provide information that is incomplete, inaccurate or fraudulent or (ii) fail to comply with or circumvent the terms and conditions of these Official Rules. (b) Multiple automated form entries from contest sites are not permitted.

3.       Grand Prize Drawing: One (1) entry will be selected in Banff, Alberta, in a random draw to be held on May 9, 2008, from among all eligible entries received. Chances of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. The selected entrant will be contacted by phone, fax or email and must agree to accept the prize as set forth below, and will be required to sign a Declaration of Eligibility/Compliance with the rules and a Publicity/Liability Release which must be returned, properly executed, within 14 days of notification or entrant will be disqualified. If the selected entrant cannot be contacted for any reason, or is unwilling or unable to comply with these rules, the prize will be forfeited and another entry will be selected. Upon receipt of properly executed Declaration and Release forms and verification of full compliance with these rules by an independent judging organization, the entrant will be declared the Winner. The Winner grants Sponsor permission to use his or her name, photograph or likeness for advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.

4.       Grand Prize: There is one (1) Grand Prize available to be won, consisting of an eight (8) day and seven (7) night Calgary and Canadian Rockies vacation for two (2). Total retail value of prize package is approximately $5,000 CDN, but will vary depending upon the experiences chosen and price fluctuations. All expenses other than those specifically referred to above including, but not limited to, airfare, all meals, beverages, hotel parking, airport taxes, gratuities, telephone usage, ground transportation and items of personal nature are the responsibility of the Winner. The prize package is valid until October 15, 2007. Travel dates are subject to availability. Winner's guest must be 21 years of age or older and will be required to execute a liability and publicity release prior to ticketing of prize. Taxes on prize are the sole responsibility of the Winner. Transfer or substitution of prize is not permitted. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any element of the prize with a prize of equal or greater value due to unavailability for any reason. Prize package has no cash value and no cash redemption. The selected entrant may be required to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited skill-testing question to be administered by mail or telephone. Winner agrees that Calgary & The Canadian Rockies Consortium and its affiliates, subsidiary companies or advertising agents assume no responsibility or liability for damages, losses or injuries of any kind resulting from participation in this sweepstakes or acceptance or use of Prize, including any travel related thereto. The above prize description constitutes the expected prize details and all aspects thereof are subject to availability and subject to change. Some restrictions may apply.
