Passport Please! As of January 2007 identification requirements have changed. Please visit www.travel.state.gov/travel for current information.
What taxes can I expect to pay?
There is no provincial sales tax in the Province of Alberta. You will find a 4% Tourism Levy billed on accommodation and in some municipalities there may also be a municipal marketing levy. Most goods and services purchased in Canada are subject to a 5% goods and services tax (GST).
What will the weather be like when I arrive?
That depends, but if you don't like it wait 5 minutes and it may change. This region has a moderate four-season climate, with large variations in temperature between seasons and from one locale to another. Alberta has more hours of sunshine in a year than any other province in Canada and is known for its blue skies. A unique phenomenon called a Chinook wind can raise temperatures more than 20 degrees in one day, turning winter into a spring day.
